A quick trip down to Parkgate this evening as a treat to myself paid dividends when a female Marsh Harrier flew through without stopping - just enough light for a record shot!
The light was pretty spectacular for photography giving a very atmospheric feel. With 200+ Pinkfeet, Hen Harrier and three Short-eared Owls it was a real mid-winter birding bonanza.
With a supporting cast of Raven, Stonechat, Little Egret and plenty of wildfowl even the -3C temperature couldn't deter me from staying until it was really dark.

Keith
Thanks Keith. I always try and get a bit of birding done on my birthday and the marsh Harrier was totally unexpected.
Hi Phil. Happy New Year and all the best for 2010. Going for a Devon year list this year and decided to do a blog. www.devon2010yearlisting.blogspot.com. Hope all is well, we will have to catch up soon.

Same to you Ash. Al doing Cheshire year list but I'm afraid he won't beat a certain stringer who's also doing one.
