A bit of a lunchtime twitch from work today to see the Hoopoe nearby at Pensarn in N Wales. The feeling is that this is the same bird seen a few weeks ago in Rhyl and it has apparently spent the last two weeks in a private garden before relocating to one of the caravan sites at Pensarn. Its a pretty scruffy looking individual and very pale coloured. Judging by the worn and brownish primaries its probably a 1st winter. From the east or the Med?
It certainly seemed to be finding plenty of grubs to eat as some of the photo's above show. It was nice to catch up with John Roberts again. I took his advice and managed to avoid the biggest brothel in N Wales on the way home...............and avoided another tattoo.
